Recommended gas leak detector for everyday van use?
My old Crowcon Gasman CO detector finally gave up. Looking for a replacement that's reliable and not too bulky for the van. Needs to detect natural gas and LPG. Also interested in whether anyone uses a combined CO/gas device or keeps them separate. Budget flexible but don't want to buy something that throws false positives every week.

I swapped to the Kane 57600 about 18 months ago and haven't looked back. Detects natural gas, LPG, and CO. No false positives in a year and a half. Fits in a jacket pocket. Battery life is excellent — I charge it once a week. It's not the cheapest but it's reliable.

I keep CO and combustible gas separate — you want them calibrated independently and a combined unit that fails takes out both detections at once. For combustible gas I use a GasAlert Micro 5 which has been solid for 3 years. For CO I use an Oldham OLCT10. Overkill for some but when you're working on live gas systems the redundancy is worth it.
